About This Role:





The Accountant III assists in the management of the University's fixed assets accounting system including analyzing assets that meet capitalization threshold, tracking Construction in Progress, and communicating updated information to campus departments. Oversees monthly sales tax reporting on behalf of campus departments and the preparation of quarterly excise and motor fuel tax remittances to the State of Kansas. Assists with nonresident alien tax reporting and 1099 creation.

In addition, the Accountant III is responsible for maintaining the Surplus Property website and providing guidance to campus users on related policies and procedures. This position also assists with the preparation of the Annual Financial Reports, the collection of data as needed for internal and external requests, and the implementation of updated/new governing regulations and standards.

Other duties as required, but not limited to responding to departmental inquiries, answering telephone calls, filing, check mailing, data entry and mail duties.

  • Bachelor's degree with accounting experience
    
    
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills, including spreadsheets and accounting software
    
    
  • Experience in property accounting or inventory tracking
    
    
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
    
    
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and set priorities
