About This Role:


As a Communication and Marketing Assistant, you will be part of the team to increase awareness and support of the Johnson Cancer Research Center and faculty and student research as well as increasing the public's knowledge of cancer and K-State cancer research. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Publicize center activities and achievements
  • Write newsletters and an annual cancer center magazine
  • Develop and administer marketing/promotions
  • Coordinate and provide tours of the center
  • Manage and write content for the website
  • Organize volunteer flier-posting, sidewalk chalking

    What You'll Need to Succeed:


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Associate's Degree
    • One to two years relevant experience

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, or related field or commensurate work experience
      • Knowledge or experience using Adobe Suite Programs
      • Knowledge of internet and social media sites
      • Knowledge of Associated Press Style Guide
      • Ability to work with various types of computer hardware and other computer related equipment
      • Ability to communicate through use of various forms of digital media such as social media, web posts
      • Ability to effectively communicate through writing
      • Ability to use innovation and creativity in program concepts
      • Exceptional communication skills including strong business writing and oral presentation abilities suitable for university and community interaction
      • High degree of motivation, flexibility to multi-task, reliability, responsiveness and attention to detail
      • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      • Demonstrate critical thinking and expresses ideas clearly, concisely and logically
      • Innovative with a "can-do attitude"
      • Experience in video/podcast production
      • Communications experience
      • Ability to work events on evenings and weekends
