About This Role:


The Department of Statistics is seeking applicants for a 9-month Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor, beginning August 2023. This is an instructional, non-tenure track position which will report directly to the Department Head. The teaching load will be 3 courses per semester which may include a mix of courses for undergraduate majors and undergraduate/graduate non-majors as well as a mix of on-campus and online courses. A one-course release may be given to allow for the development of a new online course or the coordination of graduate teaching assistants. A one-course summer teaching appointment for an additional month of pay is typically available.

What You'll Need to Succeed:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • An earned PhD in statistics, biostatistics, data science or other closely related field
  • Solo teaching experience of statistics or mathematics at the university level in one or more modalities (in-person, online, hybrid)
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to create suitable content for online courses in statistics in collaboration with an instructional designer
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body with diverse mathematical backgrounds

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Interest in statistical education and the development of an undergraduate course in sports analytics
    • Ability to contribute the on-going revitalization of the undergraduate program in statistics and data science

      Other Requirements:

      • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment. The department is unable to provide sponsorship.
