About This Role:





The Center on Aging (COA), within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month Teaching Assistant Professor to join their team. This position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on-campus and online. This non-tenure track position will report directly to the Department Head.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Teach in-person and/or online courses as required for the gerontology academic programs

  • Assist in planning, administration, and execution of the undergraduate and master's gerontology programs with fellow instructors

  • Recruit and mentor undergraduate and graduate students

  • Provide service to the program, unit, college, and university



    This 9-month position at the rank of teaching assistant professor has a preferred starting date of August 2023, with competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health; Hospitality Management; Interior Design & Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, Physician Assistant program, and a Nursing partnership with Wichita State University.     What You'll Need to Succeed:





    Minimum Requirements:



    • Earned master's degree (by start date) in gerontology or closely related field

    • Demonstrated content expertise to teach core classes in gerontology program

    • Ability to work effectively with undergraduate and graduate students in multidisciplinary environment

    • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

      Preferred Qualifications:



      • Experience teaching courses about aging

      • Experience working with older adults

      • Demonstrated ability to promote relationships with external partners and agencies
