Overview Position: RN/Registered Nurse - Rapid Response Team -
Nights Schedule: 7pm - 7am (Nights) Weekend Rotation Location:
University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus The
Registered Nurse - Rapid Response serves as clinical expert to
support patient care and staff development. This role serves as
clinical expert to support patient care and staff development.
Provides clinical response for time-sensitive patient care,
proactively augments care for patients at risk for deterioration,
mentors clinical staff and monitors quality initiatives. Advancing

Response Nurse (RN) duties include: Assess, evaluate and initiate
approved interventions for patients at risk for/or exhibiting a
change in condition. Respond to time-sensitive patient care, such
as Code Stroke and Code Blue, and expedite care. Utilize critical
thinking and problem solving skills to recognize early signs and
symptoms of clinical deterioration and act accordingly to insure
optimal outcomes. Use effective communication skills to collaborate
with team members, physicians and nursing staff to provide quality
patient care consistent with the philosophy and objective of the
organization. Mentor clinical staff through assisting with skill
development at the bedside and clinical education, such as Code
Stroke and Code Blue drills. Participate in activities that promote
safety and performance improvement such as post-fall huddles,
rounding on inpatients, completing discharge phone calls on
targeted populations and data collection activities. Accountable
for self and self-actions: Engages in self-evaluation of practice
and takes action to improve knowledge and skills. Promotes
consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution
and conduct improvement. Retains accountability for quality of care

required, BSN preferred Minimum of 2+ years' experience as an RN in
a critical care setting required Current valid Kansas RN License
Current BLS and ACLS certification Position requires fluency in
English language to function in job environment appropriately Good
interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service
skills Proficient in EMR documentation Ability to multi-task
constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate
interruptions Ability to perform work when no directions are given,
and give directions to others
