About This Role:


The Department of Kinesiology, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is seeking a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with expertise in exercise behavioral science and/or public health to join their team. Candidates with a strong research background and demonstrated expertise in any area of behavioral science related to physical activity/exercise and/or public health are invited to apply. Candidates who conduct applied exercise intervention research, actively address health disparities and social determinants of health, develop partnerships with community organizations, and work to disseminate interventions to improve population health are especially encouraged to apply.
The Department seeks candidates committed to scholarly productivity who will conduct nationally visible, funded research that complements Department, College, and University research initiatives. This position will also be expected to teach in the undergraduate and graduate kinesiology program and/or the Bachelor and Master of Public Health programs, mentor graduate students, and provide University and professional service.
This 9-month position at the rank of assistant/associate professor has a preferred starting date of August 2023, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and participates in the interdisciplinary MPH program. What You'll Need to Succeed:


Minimum Requirements:


  • Earned doctorate in kinesiology, public health, or a related field
  • Focused line of research in physical activity, behavioral science, health promotion, and/or public health
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • In addition to the requirements listed, to be considered for the rank of Associate Professor applicants must show evidence of research productivity (publications, grant funding) and excellence in teaching and mentoring

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least two years of postdoctoral research experience or equivalent faculty appointment
    • Record of extramural funding
    • University teaching experience in relevant area(s)
    • Experience with course development and online teaching
    • Experience mentoring students in research

      Other Requirements:

      • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
