Job Description:

*Position Summary & Responsibilities: **This position will remain posted until filled.**Location: Statewide*Inspect firms which use large volume commercial meters for measuring products for compliance with state statutes and regulations. Examples include pipeline and refinery load racks, ethanol plants, and fertilizer plants. This will include providing good customer service to firms being inspected and working with them to coordinate an inspection schedule which is efficient for the firm and for the state. The inspector will issue orders on behalf of the Kansas Department of Agriculture for equipment which fails inspection requirements. The inspector will travel across Kansas and will be expected to stay out overnight in order to use state resources efficientlyThe selected individual must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 85 pounds. A normal day will require standing or walking most of the time. Occasionally climbing tanks and working above ground will be required. Scheduled hours for this position will fluctuate depending on the special needs of the companies being tested. Work will normally occur Monday through Friday during daytime hours but several weeks out of the year the employee will be required to work afternoons, evenings and overnight. The employee will occasionally be expected to work on weekends.The selected individual will conduct continuing education classes and testing for load rack facility licensing and other types of license categories as requested such as mass flow meters, CNG, LPG, etc. This will involve using a computer and projection equipment to create and present presentations. This will involve talking in front of an audience for 4 hours at a time. This may also require the ability to demonstrate testing procedures in front of others.Inspect firms across Kansas which sell compressed natural gas and/or liquefied natural gas for compliance with state statutes and regulations. The inspector will issue orders on behalf of the Kansas Department of Agriculture for equipment which is rejected during the inspection. This task will involve using a computer, reference materials, calculator, smartphone, camera, measuring tape, specialized testing and safety equipment, and driving a vehicle while pulling a large trailer.The selected individual will complete daily computer data file transfers. They will complete weekly work reports, vehicle reports, expense reports, and other administrative reports as assigned. Vehicle and equipment maintenance and cleaning will be done as needed. Employee training will be assigned several times throughout the year and will usually involve traveling. Employees will be expected to stay current with communications and changes to statutes and regulations. The employee will be expected to complete all other duties as assigned.Assist in other areas of the weights and measures program as needed. This will include, but not be limited to checking retail motor-fuel dispensers, taking fuel samples, investigating consumer complaints, testifying in administrative hearings and in court cases resulting from enforcement action.*Qualifications: * - High School Diploma or equivalent with two years of experience working with the public, or 60 or more credit hours of college in lieu of work experience. - Current, unrestricted driver's license. - Must be able to repetitively lift up to 85 pounds. - Ability to read and comprehend written directions, policies, statutes and regulations. - Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, covert unit of measurements and perform algebraic functions. - Have good public speaking skills.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $42,893.76 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Employee discount* Flexible schedule* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Parental leave* Professional development assistance* Retirement plan* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Monday to FridayWork Location: On the road
