Job Description:


*IMMEDIATE, URGENT NEED: We are hiring approximately 10 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees. All shifts are available. Paid training can start immediately.*


*Minimum Qualifications*

* Military (i.e., Military Police/Security Forces with Honorable discharge), law enforcement, or physical security background
* Citizen of the United States, at least twenty-one years of age, a graduate of high school, or an approved high school equivalency course and/or examination
* Shall not have been convicted of any offense, other than minor traffic violations/offenses (defined as one not punishable by incarceration or by a fine of more than $500.00)
* Valid motor vehicle driver's license recognized in the State of Kansas.
* Shall be capable of being armed, to include training, qualification, and certification in the use, safety, and responsibilities of carrying and using firearms and non-lethal weapons.
* Be proficient in reading an understanding printed regulations and detailed written orders in English, and be able to compile reports, which convey factual information in English.
* Shall have accurate typing proficiency, possess good oral and written communication skills, and a working understanding and use of personal computers.
* Shall be submitted for and pass a Special Agreement Check (SAC), a Tier3a Moderate Background Investigation which includes a security investigation consisting of a National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit (NACLC) plus an Enhanced Subject Interview (ESI) and written inquiries to employers, schools, and references for the past 5 years.
* Must be able to obtain a Select Agent clearance and also meet background check standards outlined in 10 CFR 37 Physical Protection of Category 1 and Category 2 Quantities of Radioactive Material Subpart B.
* Must possess basic honesty, integrity, good judgement, courage, alertness, self-reliance, and the ability to deal with the public in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
* Pass a drug screening.

*Physical Demands*

* Shall be in good general health, well-proportioned in height and weight, without mental or physical impairments which would interfere with or pose a health or safety hazard to personnel or the performance of required duties and activities as required.
* Vision: 20/20 while using both eyes (aided or unaided); capable, in at least on eye, of reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of no less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger chart; normal color vision; no peripheral vision deficits, night blindness, or visual conditions that may prevent successful task performance.
* Hearing: Average hearing across 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 Hz is less than or equal to 25 dB (aided or unaided); hearing at 4000 and 5000 Hz level is less than or equal to 45 dB; no inner, middle, or outer ear disorders affecting equilibrium.
* Cardiovascular System: Adequate aerobic power (minimum 9 METs or 31.5 m./kg/min VO2 Max), during standardized aerobic capacity test (step box, treadmill, or step mill for six minutes).
* Musculoskeletal System: exhibits full range of motion; able to easily get up from and down to a kneeling position; able to lift 40 pounds minimum from floor to waist; able to perform 29 sit-ups in 2 minutes and 21 pushups in 2 minutes; 1.5 mile run in 17:30 and 300-meter sprint in 81 seconds (*tested annually*)

*Working Conditions*

* Ability to remain on feet for long hours, conduct roving foot patrols, climb and descend stairs and hills, and respond to an emergency by quickly reporting to the scene on foot and having the ability to apprehend suspects or violators while also protecting self and others.
* Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to eight hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime. Outdoor posts may require an individual to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind).
* Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak English clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., confrontations with angry, distraught, disturbed, or violent persons).
* Ability to remain on post up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or relieving bladder/bowels.
* Ability to remain alert for up to eight hours, with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations. Use of senses (sight, hearing, smell, and touch) is necessary to discern unusual or dangerous situations.
* Ability to use post security equipment (metal detectors, X-rays, CCTV); ability to use baton, Taser, and firearm at any time while on duty.
* Ability to read post assignments, prepare reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/orders.
* Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis (e.g., provide emergency First Aid or resuscitation while waiting for arrival of paramedics or other emergency personnel).
* Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs (e.g., in responding to emergencies, ensuring timely and complete facility evacuations, giving pursuit, etc.).


* Patrol, observe and report on all areas of responsibility
* Perform access control functions to the NBAF
* Operate and monitor screening technologies (X-ray personal belonging screening, walk-through magnetometer and handheld/operated metal detectors
* Conduct inspections of hand-carried items
* Perform random badge and ID checks of personnel
* Perform random inspections of personal belongings and vehicles entering NBAF campus.
* Monitor and enforce policies concerning the unauthorized removal of property, documents, and materials from NBAF campus.
* Respond and provide armed security assistance to all requests from NBAF personnel and others onsite, requiring assistance because or, or to prevent acts of, physical violence, vandalism, theft, or other disturbances.
* Respond to medical emergency requests and provide initial emergency first aid and/or CPR.
* Act as incident command for all emergency incidents.
* Control HAZMAT incident scenes until appropriate response authority arrives.
* Actively participate in all Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services response needs (security, escorts, evacuations and life safety emergencies).
* Protect and safeguard Government, contractor, and personal property and equipment from theft, vandalism, fire, and other threats.
* Perform security and health and welfare checks.
* Respond to elevator malfunctions.
* Protect NBAF employees and visitors from civil disturbances or terrorist activities
* Process official visitors, tours, groups, vendors, foreign nationals, employee, etc. onto the NBAF Campus to conduct official business.
* Provide security related escorts for functions and employee safety.
* Remove snow around Security Officer Shack as needed to prevent slips and falls.
* Utilize specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting controlled areas.

Pay: $46,000.00 - $47,900.00 per year
