About This Role:


The K-State Police Officers and Trainees patrol university property to enforce laws, ordinances, and regulations. They protect citizens and property from harm; respond to incidents and situations that arise using clear judgment according to the policies and procedures of the university's police department and applicable laws and regulations. The officers and trainees serve the community by providing preventative patrol and response to accidents, incidents, crimes, and disturbances. They work with diverse groups of people and make an effort to involve community members in positive ways that promote public safety goals. For more information, check out the .

  Minimum Qualifications for officers:
  
  • 
    
  • High School diploma or equivalent
    
  • One year of relevant experience in general law enforcement
    
  • Valid Driver's license
    
  • Completion of a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission
    
    Minimum Qualifications for trainees:

          • Applicants must be a United States Citizen and at least 21 years of age.
            
          • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
            
          • First Aid and CPR certification necessary within one year after employment.
            
          • Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license (corrected vision acceptable) upon employment
            
          • Must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission before being given permanent status.
            
          • At the time of appointment, the candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services.
            
          • This class requires the use of a firearm for law enforcement duties and therefore, candidates cannot have been convicted of, and must be free of any diversions from a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C 922 (d) (9) and (g) (9).
            
          • Attend 40 hours of in-service training each year after certification.
            
          • Good physical health and must be able to fulfill all requirements for admission to an accredited Kansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
