About This Role:





The Department of Applied Human Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is seeking a Program Assistant to join their team at the Center for Child Development (CCD). With a focus on customer service, this position will support the CCD's day-to-day functioning by helping manage enrollment, waitlists, and children and staff licensing files. The Program Assistant will also provide daily oversight of staff schedules, ensuring classrooms meet KDHE staffing requirements at all times and that staff receive necessary breaks, planning periods, etc. This position reports to the CCD Director.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:



  • Respond to inquiries from prospective parents regarding tours and enrollment

  • Ensure children and staff licensing files comply with Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) regulations

  • Update files every semester, communicating with administrators, staff, and/or families to obtain required information and/or documents

  • Oversee the reception area with a focus on professionalism and client satisfaction

  • Track inventory of and submit monthly restock requests for shared classroom, office, and hygiene supplies

  • Maintain Listserv subscriptions and disseminate information as requested

  • Create quarterly newsletter templates and work with campus entities to develop and maintain CCD marketing materials

  • Oversee and assign tasks to student office aides to support CCD operations

  • Provide clerical support as needed to the Director and Assistant Director

  • Upon request, research special projects by compiling information, analyzing results, and preparing recommendations and/or reports for the Director or Assistant Director

  • Enter and manipulate complex data in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications

    What You'll Need to Succeed:





    Minimum Requirements:



    • One year of relevant experience



      Preferred Qualifications:



      • Three years of experience in general office, clerical, or administrative work

      • Ability to maintain confidentiality

      • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

      • Ability to handle multiple projects and interruptions

      • Extensive computer knowledge of software applications

      • Experience with KDHE childcare licensing regulations

      • Strong organizational and time management skills

        • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment

        • Ability to pass a name-based and fingerprint background check, KDHE health assessment, and TB test
