Essential Functions

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Operate computer, forklift, and service production department s needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Operates forklift. 2. Receive purchased materials. 3. Applicable computer programs. 4. Locate raw materials and finished goods. 5. May need to train new workers. 6. Support pertinent job functions for production department. 7. Verify packaged goods from packout. 8. Detect and report unusual conditions to supervisor. 9. Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately. 2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner. 3. Maintain production schedules. 4. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S. 5. Other duties may be assigned at a later time.

Qualifications

Education required: High School diploma or GED Experience: Production work preferred but not required Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills 2. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools 3. Sound decision making skills 4. Good math, reading, writing skills 5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude 6. Strong trouble shooting skills 7. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention 8. Ability to work well in a team environment Skills/Competencies: 1. Basic computer skills 2. Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action. 3. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks. 4. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail. Physical Requirements: 1. Show ability to drive a motorized vehicle. 2. Need a valid driver s license. 3. Exert up to 50 to 150 pounds of force occasionally. 4. Exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Assessment: Employee must pass Pre-employment screening

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE: Report directly to Warehouse Manager Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee may be subject to: High noise levels from operating machines and equipment. Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels. 1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection) 2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis 3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions 4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime. The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
